Free sewing tutorial and pattern toddler mittens



Materials:
* Cotton fabric - 16 cm x 40 cm (6,5 inch x 16 inch) (outside mittens)
* Fleece (16 cm x 40 cm) (6,5 inch x 16 inch) (lining mittens)
* Strip of fabric - 3 cm x 90 cm (1,2 inch x 35,5 inch)
* Elastic - width: 1 cm (0,4 inch). Length: 20 cm (8 inch) twice.

Instructions:
Download the free sewing pattern here. The pattern is for a one year old.

Cut the pattern (green) twice out of the cotton fabric. Pin the two cotton pieces down, right sides facing. Sew along the outer edge. Turn right-side out.

Cut the pattern (blue) twice out of the fleece. Pin the two pieces down, right sides facing. Sew along the outer edge. Turn right-side out.

Sew the elastic onto the outer mittens (marked out as a dotted line on the pattern). Use a zigzag stitch with maximum length and width. Stretch the elestic while you sew.

Fold your strip of fabric twice, lengthwise. Sew together.

Pin the outside of the mitten to the inside of the mitten, right sides facing. Put the fabric ribbon in place and pin down. Sew inside and outside together. Leave a opening for turning right-side out. Turn right-side out. Sew the other mitten in the same way.
