Sewing pattern and tutorial Women's Raglan Dress


Materials:
* Jersey - Froy & Dind, Bankok Blue Red (Fabric width: 145 cm)
   - 200 cm (size 04 - 14)
* Bias tape - 15 cm long

Instructions:
The sewing pattern is available in my online shop. Sizes range from XS to XXL.

When working with knits, it is important not to stretch or pull the fabric while sewing. Also use a stretch needle and a stretch stitch. In this pattern all seams are sewed with a twin needle.

Step 1: Draw the pattern.
Print the sewing pattern in landscape mode at 100% on A4 paper or US Letter. Draw the pattern with an aqua trickmarker on the back of the fabric.

The pattern is without seam allowance. Add 1 cm (5/8 inch) seam allowance. Add 2 cm (1 inch) seam allowance at the neckline, the bottom of the sleeves and the bottom of the dress. Draw with the aqua trickmarker a second line 1 cm (1/2 inch) above the neckline.  


Step 2: Cut the fabric.
Cut a front piece, a back piece, a front skirt piece, a back skirt piece and and two sleeves out of the fabric.


Step 3: Serge the seams.
Serge the seams.


Step 4: Sew the upper notches of the sleeve closed.
Sew the upper notches of the sleeve closed. Use a single needle with a straight stitch.


Step 5: Sew the skirt pieces to the front piece and back piece.
With right sides facing, pin down the front skirt piece and the upper front piece. Sew together.
With right sides facing, pin down the back skirt piece and the upper back piece. Sew together.


Step 6: Sew the sleeves to the front and back piece.
With right sides facing, sew the sleeves to the front and back piece.


Step 7: Fold seam allowance neckline to the inside.
Fold seam allowance of the neckline to the inside on the first line (about 1 cm - 1/2 inch) from the cut edge) and pin down.


Step 8: Fold seam allowance neckline to the inside.
Fold seam allowance of the neckline to the inside on the second line (about 2 cm - 1 inch) from the cut edge) and pin down.


Step 9: Sew.
Turn the dress right side out and sew neckline.


Step 10: Sew the sides of the dress and the sides of the sleeves.
Turn dress wrong-side out. Pin down the sides of the dress and the bottom of the sleeves. Cut the bias tape in half. Fold both pieces in half lengthwise. Put the bias tape in place. They are placed just above the skirt pieces and have a 2.5 cm (1 inch) length. (Thus the loops will be 5 cm/ 2 inch long.) Sew a couple of times over the loops, so it will be attached firmly. Sew the sides of the dress and the sides of the sleeves together.


Step 11: Fold the seam allowance to the inside.
Fold the seam allowance of the bottom of the dress and the bottom of the sleeves to the inside and pin down.


Step 12:  Sew the hems in place.
Turn right-side out. Sew the hems in place.

Step 7: Fold strip of fabric widthwise.
Cut a strip of fabric out of the fabric (150 cm x 4 cm - 60 inch x 1,5 inch). Fold your strip of fabric widthwise to the middle from both sides.

Step 14: Pin down.
Pin down.

St4p 15: Fold strip of fabric withwise.
Fold your strip of fabric widthwise and pin down. Sew.
