When working with knits, it is important not to stretch or pull the fabric while sewing. Also use a stretch needle and a stretch stitch. In this pattern all seams are sewed with a twin needle.

Step 1: Draw the pattern.

Print the sewing pattern in landscape mode at 100% on A4 paper or US Letter. Draw the pattern with an aqua trickmarker on the back of the fabric.

The pattern is without seam allowance. Add 1 cm (5/8 inch) seam allowance. Draw the neckline, the bottom of the sleeves and the bottom of the bodysuit without seam allowance.

Step 2: Cut the fabric.
Cut a front piece, a back piece and two sleeves out of the fabric.

Step 3: Sew neckband.
Cut a 4,5 cm (2 inch) wide strip of your ribbing. Align the raw edges of the neckband with the raw edge of the neck opening, wrong sides together. Sew 1 cm (1/2 inch) from the outer edge. Stretch the neckband while you sew, but be careful not to stretch or pull the knit fabric.

Step 4: Sew neckband.
Fold the neckband over the cut edge, re-fold and pin down. Sew.

Step 5: Add ribbing to the bottom of the bodysuit.
Align the raw edges of the ribbing with the raw edge of the bottom of the bodysuit, wrong sides together. Sew 1 cm (0.4 in) from the outer edge. Stretch the ribbing while you sew, but be careful not to stretch or pull the knit fabric.

Step 6: Add ribbing to the bottom of the bodysuit.
Fold the ribbing over the cut edge, re-fold and pin down. Sew.

Step 7: Sew part of the shoulder seam.
Put the shoulder of the back piece over the front piece and pin down. Sew.

Step 8: Add ribbing to the bottom of the sleeves.

Align the raw edges of the ribbing with the raw edge of the bottom of the sleeves, wrong sides together. Sew 1 cm (1/2 inch) from the outer edge. Stretch the ribbing while you sew, but be careful not to stretch or pull the knit fabric.

Fold the ribbing over the cut edge, re-fold and pin down. Sew.

Step 9: Sew the sleeve into the armhole.

Sew the sleeve into the armhole. Repeat for the right sleeve.

Stap 10: Pin the sides of the bodysuit and the sleeve down.

Turn bodysuit wrong-side out. With right sides facing, fold the sleeve in half and pin down. Pin down the sides of the bodysuit.

Step 11: Sew.
Sew the sides of the bodysuit and the sleeves.

Step 12: Turn right-side out.

Turn right-side out.

Step 13: Attach snaps.

Attach the snaps to the bodysuit.

  3. Just making this, it looks lovely! May wondering why you don't set the sleeves before you sew the sides up. Would be easier to see a straight run than that tricky circle shoulder seam?
